The Black Queens of Ghana suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in their second friendly match in three days on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. The match was part of the team’s final preparations ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025.
The only goal of the match came in the 52nd minute, courtesy of the Ivorian side. The Black Queens pushed hard for an equalizer but were unable to break through the Ivorian defense. A notable moment came in the 63rd minute when Doris Boaduwaa thought she had scored, only to be ruled offside.
Despite the loss, the friendly matches against Côte d’Ivoire are expected to play a significant role in the Black Queens’ final preparations. The technical team should be able to assess the team’s strengths and weaknesses, make necessary adjustments and fine-tune the team’s strategy ahead of the big tournament.
The Black Queens will look to bounce back from this defeat and make a strong showing at WAFCON. With just over a month to go before the tournament, the team will be working hard to perfect their skills and build on the lessons learned from these friendly matches.
