The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) says the stance of two of its executive members; on the Cargo Tracking Note, CTN does not represent the position of GUTA, but the rather their own.
In a statement, the General Secretary of GUTA, Alhaji Alpha Shaban said the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, David Amoateng and the third Deputy National PRO, Emmanuel Nana Opoku Achiampong speak for themselves on the CTN.
The statement said anyone dealing with GUTA should be directed to the National Secretariat and not the two Executives in question.
The media is advised to contact the GUTA President, Dr. Joseph Obeng for any further questions.
The CTN implementation started at the sea ports on Monday, 15 October 2018, despite a suit challenging its implementation.
Per the policy, importers whose imports, from records exceed thirty-six (36) Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) per year will be required to obtain a CTN Number in the country of export.
Meanwhile, the President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, GIFF, Kwabena Ofosu Appiah has cautioned the Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA, to be circumspect in the implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note, CTN.
He questioned the legal arrangement to be used on an importer who might default.
Some freight forwarders who spoke to Radio Ghana on condition of anonymity expressed displeasure at the implementation of the policy and added that they are confused as to what to do.
