President John Dramani Mahama has assured business owners that his government will create and sustain a stable and supportive environment to help businesses grow, create jobs, and build wealth for the Ghanaian economy.
Delivering his New Year message at the Presidency in Accra on Thursday January 1, 2026, President Mahama called on business leaders to invest in Ghana and expand enterprises that will provide employment and improve livelihoods. He said government will play its part by ensuring policies and conditions that allow businesses to thrive.
According to the President, the success of the economy depends on strong collaboration between government and the private sector. He urged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities that his administration will create, stressing that job creation and wealth generation are critical to national development.
President Mahama also acknowledged the role of civil society organisations, the media, and other watchdog institutions, urging them to continue holding government accountable. He said a vibrant democracy needs critical voices, adding that even when there are disagreements, government will always respect their role in strengthening the nation.
The President appealed to traditional leaders and faith-based organisations to help promote social cohesion, national unity, and strong moral values within communities. He described them as custodians of Ghana’s values and anchors of society.
Addressing public servants, President Mahama reminded them of their noble duty to serve with integrity, efficiency, and dedication. He said public trust in government depends largely on the daily conduct of those in public service.
He also called on Ghanaians in the diaspora to continue serving as global ambassadors for the country and encouraged them to bring home their skills, resources, and networks when possible to support national development.
President Mahama stressed the need for unity, saying Ghana belongs to all citizens, regardless of political affiliation. He called for an end to divisive politics and urged Ghanaians to embrace patriotism and nation-building.
Looking ahead to 2026, the President expressed confidence in Ghana’s future. He said he envisions a country where every child can dream and succeed, where hard work is rewarded, integrity is celebrated, corruption is eliminated, and opportunities are available at home.
President Mahama ended his address by calling on Ghanaians to move forward with confidence, determination, and faith in God and in the nation, wishing the country peace, progress, and prosperity in the New Year.
