Countries in the West African Sub-region continue to use Ghana’s Port as a transit point for their goods. Transit traffic from the port of Tema increased from 852,377 metric tonnes in 2016 to 1,454,868 metric tonnes in 2020.

In compliance with international Agreements, Protocols, Conventions and other Accords, Ghana offered its territory to its land-locked neighbors to transit goods. However there are fundamental issues affecting the transit trade.

Haulage truck drivers are continuously faced with too many police and custom check points and extortion.

In a move to deal with these challenges, the Ghana Shippers Authority has held a sensitization workshop for truck drivers and other stakeholders.
