Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku says his appointment as Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) marks an important step for Ghana’s return to top-level football leadership in Africa.

During his appearance on GTV Sports Plus on February 2, 2026, Kurt Okraku told host Kwabena Yeboah that he felt humbled by the appointment and proud to represent Ghana at the highest level of African football governance.

He also added that the role shows growing trust in Ghana’s football administration among CAF’s 54 member associations.

He said Ghana’s return to CAF’s leadership restores the country’s influence after several years without direct representation at the top decision-making table.

Under his new role, Kurt Okraku will oversee CAF club competitions, including the CAF Champions LeagueCAF Confederation Cup and CAF Women’s Champions League.

He will also support the development plans of CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Kurt Okraku also confirmed his appointment as Chairman of FIFA’s Anti-Discrimination and Racism Committee. In that role, he will help lead global efforts to fight racism and discrimination in football.

He said the responsibility is heavy but believes Ghana football will benefit from his new position.

Ghana previously held strong representation at CAF’s executive level through former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, whose exit left the country without a voice at the highest continental decision-making table.

Kurt Okraku’s appointment marks Ghana’s return to that strategic space and strengthens the nation’s role in shaping African football policy, competition structures and governance reforms.

His prior leadership experience includes serving as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) and membership on CAF’s Executive Committee.
