Black Stars right-back Caleb Yirenkyi has been nominated for the Young Player of the Month award in Denmark’s top-flight Superliga after an impressive August with FC Nordsjaelland. The 19-year-old, scored one goal and provided one assist, greatly contributing to his club’s positive start to the season.
Yirenkyi’s excellent form at club level earned him a call-up to the Ghana national team, where he made his competitive debut in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Chad on September 4. His performance in the qualifier highlighted his readiness for international duty and raised his profile among Ghanaian football supporters.
He is in strong competition for the award, with fellow Ghanaian talents Prince Amoako Jr., also from FC Nordsjaelland, and Bismark Edjeodji of Vejle Boldklub among the nominees. Other shortlisted players include Thomas Jorgensen from Viborg, Clement Bischoff who recently moved to Red Bull Salzburg from Brøndby IF, and Hjalte Bidstrup, also of Viborg.
The winner will be decided by fan votes in a public poll, with the announcement scheduled after the upcoming international break. The voting process allows supporters to have a say in recognizing emerging talents in the Danish league.
Following his impressive international debut, Caleb Yirenkyi is expected to feature again for the Black Stars in their next World Cup qualifying match against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8, where he will look to continue his strong run of form.
