The Ministry of Health says it welcomes moves by government to send more than 300 Nurses to Barbados and Eritrea.

Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Elorm Ametepe said there are excess nurses in the system who are currently not engaged by government, so sending them to where their services would be needed is not out of place.

The Coalition of NGO’s in Health also welcomed the decision to send the nurses abroad but wants a national consultative meeting to spell out the modalities.

Meanwhile, a Labour Expert Ben Arthur has commended Government for agreeing in principle to export over 300 Nurses to Barbados.

Speaking to Cecil Obodai Wentum, on GBC’s Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Mr. Arthur said such a move presents numerous advantages for Ghanaian Nurses. He called for such collaborations to go beyond healthcare provision.
