Tema Police Command records 58 robberies, 3 attempted murders in first quarter

The Tema Regional Police Command in the first quarter of 2021, recorded fifty-eight robbery cases and three attempted murder cases.

The robberies, involved car snatching, one street robbery, fifty-one residential robberies, three work-place robberies, and two highway robberies.

Acting Public Relations Officer for the Tema Regional Police, Chief Inspector Stella Dede Dzakpasu, told the GNA, that one of the attempted murder cases is before court and two others under investigation.

She said three cases of abduction of children under 18 years are also under investigation.  Chief Inspector Dzakpasu said the Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Regional Police Command recorded fifteen cases, involving three defilements cases, two duties to maintain a child, two emotional verbal, psychological abuse, seven cases of failing to maintain a child and one rape.  The Regional Police Command recorded Twenty-two Indian hemp cases out of which fifteen are in court and six under investigation.

Chief Inspector Dzakpasu said ten general frauds, twenty-three land and mortgage cases, nine fraudulent transactions, six issuances of false cheques, three hundred and five trespassing and eight unlawful damages were recorded.  She cautioned people to desist from walking in isolated areas, especially at night, to avoid attacks and robberies from unscrupulous people.  She advised the public against keeping huge sums of money and other important documents at home and rather resort to the use of the banks.
