Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi has signed with Dutch Eredivisie club NAC Breda on a free transfer, agreeing to a deal that runs until the end of this season, with an option to extend for another year.
The move reunites him with fellow Ghana international Kamal Sowah, rekindling their partnership last seen during the Black Stars’ 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar.
NAC Breda officially confirmed Odoi’s signing in a statement, highlighting the defender’s arrival as crucial reinforcement for a defence currently hampered by injuries.
The club emphasized Odoi’s versatility, leadership qualities, and extensive experience as key factors that will bolster their backline as they aim to improve results in the season’s remainder.
Odoi’s football journey spans several notable European clubs. Before joining Breda, he played for Belgian top sides Club Brugge and Royal Antwerp, and English Championship club Fulham.
Earlier stages of his career saw him develop through the youth setups at Anderlecht, Genk, and OH Leuven, as well as spells at KSC Lokeren, Sint-Truiden, and OH Leuven.
At 37 years old, Odoi brings a veteran presence as NAC Breda look to fortify their defence. He is expected to integrate quickly into the squad and start contributing immediately, leveraging his wealth of experience and tactical understanding to help stabilise the team’s defensive structure.
This signing adds significant depth to NAC Breda’s squad, and with the synergy expected from linking up again with Kamal Sowah, the club’s ambitions for the rest of the season appear well supported by this strategic acquisition.
