The pupils of Korle Nkwanta Good Shepherd Anglican Basic School in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region have heaved a sigh of relief, as their school, which was in a deplorable state, has received a facelift.

This was after the founder of the Linaks Foundation, Linda Akrasi Kotey, visited the school months ago and saw the dilapidated nature of the school after a rainstorm ripped off the roof of the school building. As a result, the foundation has renovated the school facility and handed it over to the school management for use.

The Korle Nkwanta Good Shepherd Anglican Basic School in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region was rendered deplorable after a rainstorm ripped off the roof of the school in 2024. This challenge affected teaching and learning in the school, as school had to close whenever it threatened to rain.

During a visit to the school by the Founder of the Linaks Foundation, Linda Akrasi Kotey, the school authority made an appeal to her to come to their aid. The Foundation, considering the appeal, renovated and handed over the JHS classroom block and a staff common room of the school.

She also used the opportunity to donate books and stationery to the pupils. In her address during the handing-over, Madam Linda Akrasi Kotey, noted that the rehabilitated classroom block is not just a physical structure but a space for innovation, focus, and discovery as well as a place where ideas can grow and theories can turn into practice.

She emphasized that the facility will help improve safety, reduce disruptions to learning, and create a cleaner, quieter, and more hygienic environment for the pupils.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey commended Linaks Foundation for the initiative and urged stakeholders to maintain the facility for longevity.

The Headteacher of Korle Nkwanta Good Shepherd Anglican Basic School, Charlotte Takyiwaa Donkor described the situation of the school before the intervention of Linaks Foundation and how the new facility will help improve academic performance of the school.

Linaks Foundation which has being in existence for the past 15 years, is a charity arm of Linaks Group of Companies with the sole aim of giving back to society. It has over the years attended to the needs of society, especially in the areas of education, the aged, and health, among others. The handing-over ceremony coincided with Mrs. Kotey’s 46th birthday celebration.
