Confusion over the 2025/2026 Senior High School academic calendar has prompted a clarification from the Ghana Education Service (GES), which says reports of a full return to the single-track system are inaccurate.

In a post on its official Facebook page on Sunday, August 24, 2025, GES explained that the new academic calendar makes provision for both single-track and transitional double-track schools.

According to the schedule, all first-year Senior High School students are to report on Saturday, October 18, 2025, to commence the academic year.

The closing dates for schools will, however, differ depending on the track system:

• Single-track schools end the academic year on August 21, 2026.

• Double-track (transitional) schools close on September 4, 2026.

The post was signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi. He urged parents, students, and the public to rely on official GES communications for accurate updates, rather than solely relying on speculations in some sections of the media.
