MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has called for the suspension of payment of admission fees by fresh tertiary students this year.

Mr. Ayariga said the outbreak of COVID has made it difficult for parents and students to pay the fees this year.

Mr. Ayariga is expected to move a motion to that effect on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, January 20.

“We want to ask His Excellency President Akufo-Addo to take urgent steps to suspend the application of the payment of fees this year because of the Covid circumstances and its impact on household incomes and consequently the ability of students who have been given admission to pay the fees.”
