The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered all school heads who collected money from students or parents for the 2025 WASSCE practicals to refund the amounts without delay.
In a directive dated July 28, 2025, the GES noted that the government has fully funded the costs of the practical examinations, including materials and resources. It expressed concern that some School Heads had still taken money from candidates and their families.
Heads are instructed to issue official receipts for the refunds and notify their Regional Directors once repayment is complete. GES warned that failure to comply would be treated as a serious breach and may attract sanctions.
Regional Directors have been tasked with ensuring this information reaches all heads of schools across the country.
