More than 7,000 Private School teachers nationwide are to be trained on the effective implementation of the new curriculum which begins in September this year.
Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana at the opening of a four-day training for Private School Teachers in Accra, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum said the programme will equip the teachers with in-depth knowledge on the new curriculum and enable them to prepare adequately for its success.
He explained that the Ministry of Education together with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment organized the programme to train about 100 Master Trainers who will pass on the knowledge to their colleagues within four months of the roll out period.
Dr Adutwum was optimistic that the pragmatic reforms made in the curriculum of basic schools will yield good results.
The National Director of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Steve Revss expressed gratitude to government for organising the programme for the teachers.
He was hopeful that the success of the revised curriculum will help in improving the declining standards of education.
