A Coalition of 2020 College of Education Backlog of Trained Teachers has appealed to the Ministry of Education to post them. This comes after the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced that there will be a freeze on employment into the civil and public service in 2023.
Addressing the media at the Forecourt of the Ministry of Education, in Accra, the Spokesperson for the Coalition, Lucy Ezu Vifa, called on the Sector Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah to facilitate their posting, as soon as possible, before the financial clearance date expires on 31st of December, 2022.
Some of the Backlog Trained Teachers also told GBC News that “the attitude of staff at the Ministry towards their posting is taking a greater toll on them”.

“We want our posting. When we wrote the licensure exams, we failed some of the papers. So they asked us to go back and write, when we redeem ourselves they will post us and we wrote the paper and passed. Now we are waiting for our posting but when we came here, they didn’t tell us anything.
We sent them letters upon letters but when we come, they are not giving us any information that will convince us, the situation is not good at all. In fact, because of this, some of us are downcast. I asked what if we are their children or their family members would they do this to us?. A lady like me, I had to go for fishing before I get money to pay y school fees and now this”, she lamented.
