Tertiary institutions are to reopen on August 24 to enable continuing students to complete the academic year.

Government, through the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service, will ensure that all these tertiary institutions are disinfected.

President Akufo-Addo announced this in his 15th update on the Novel Coronavirus.

He said the Universities will be equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment, and those with their own hospitals and clinics will have isolation centers to deal with any positive cases.

All other institutions, without their own clinics and hospitals, will be mapped to health facilities.

President Akufo-Addo said there will be no mass gatherings and no sporting activities. Religious activities, under the new protocols, will be permitted.

He said discussions on the modalities for the reopening of pre-tertiary schools are still ongoing.

He assured parents of the safety and wellbeing of their children, teachers and non-teaching staff in the decisions that will be taken.
