The Chairman of the Wa Polytechnic Governing Council, Professor Daniel Baaga says the council is prepared to work with the Rector of Wa Polytechnic, Professor Owusu Marfo.

On Thursday (August 30), Prof Owusu Marfo was blocked from entering his office to resume work after the Wa High Court quashed a decision by the Governing Council of the institution, to suspend him.

Prof Owusu-Marfo was alleged to have procured a vehicle for himself at the cost of more than GH¢500,000 without the approval of the Governing Council.  He is also accused of procurement fraud and abuse of office. But the Rector has denied all the allegations.

After the lockout, Prof Owusu Marfo said the school authorities do not seem interested in working with him and vowed to boycott scheduled Governing Council meetings until his office is opened.

Chairman of the School’s Governing Council, Professor Daniel Baaga says although it is willing to work with Prof Owusu-Marfo, the Council will not invite him to its meetings.
