The Ledzokuku Area Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has conducted an environmental education and awareness exercise on noise pollution for selected pubs and event centres across Teshie, Labone, La, and Spintex.

The initiative aimed to prepare operators for the festive season by sensitising them on acceptable noise levels, regulatory requirements, and practical sound management measures.
Mr. Klenam Mensah, Area Head of the Ledzokuku EPA office, led his team in engaging managers directly, assessing on-site environmental practices, and providing guidance on noise reduction strategies.
Key observations revealed inadequate soundproofing in most facilities and low awareness of permissible decibel levels and operational hours. Despite this, operators expressed willingness to comply when properly guided.

The EPA team encouraged the use of sound-limiting devices, improved acoustic measures, and stronger collaboration with authorities to minimize noise-related disturbances. Such engagements aim to promote a quieter, safer environment for residents during the festive season.
Mr. Mensah noted that continuous engagement and periodic education campaigns will be essential to sustain compliance and safeguard community well-being.
