A Former Commander of the MTTD, Victor Tano, says he supports the decision to collect data on passengers.

This he said will help identify victims who get involved in road accidents.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Mr. Tano noted that Union leaders have a major role to play in ensuring that road accidents are reduced and advised that systematic structures be put in place to educate drivers.

Head of Communications at the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Kodua Atuahene said the mandate review of the National Road Safety Commission into an Authority will enable it to sanction and prosecute actions which are inconsistent with best practices on the roads.

He said henceforth there will be rigorous and strict enforcement of road safety regulations.
