The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has urged tax officials to adopt a more proactive and aggressive approach to revenue mobilisation, as the government steps up efforts to strengthen domestic revenue collection.

Speaking at the Legon Tax Service Centre, Dr. Forson said revenue generation should go beyond passive methods. “Revenue must not depend on waiting for taxpayers to walk into our offices,” he stated.
He encouraged officers to take the initiative in enforcing compliance. “We must go out, engage, enforce compliance, and collect what is due to the state,” he added.

The Finance Minister emphasised the importance of taking full ownership of targets and expanding the tax net, noting that domestic revenue mobilisation is critical for national development. “Ghana needs the revenue, and the work you do is critical to funding public services and driving national development,” he said.
Dr. Forson expressed confidence that with focus, discipline, and commitment, the Revenue Authority can mobilise the resources needed to support growth, deliver essential services, and secure a stronger future for the country.
