Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has joined several First Ladies and international leaders in Beijing, China, to attend an exhibition on Digital Empowerment for Women and Girls. The event, hosted by China’s First Lady, Her Excellency Peng Liyuan, was held at the China National Museum of Women and Children to highlight innovative solutions advancing women’s participation in the digital space.

The exhibition forms part of China’s broader initiative to promote gender equality through technology and innovation. It showcased groundbreaking projects and programs empowering women and girls to access education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities through digital tools.

Participants included First Ladies, government officials, and global advocates for women’s rights, all united by a common goal, to ensure that women and girls are not left behind in the digital transformation era.

Mrs. Lordina Mahama’s participation reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to bridging the gender digital divide and creating equal opportunities for women in ICT, education, and entrepreneurship. She underscored that empowering women with digital skills is essential to achieving sustainable development and inclusive growth.

The First Lady commended the Government of China and its First Lady, Madam Peng Liyuan, for their leadership in promoting initiatives that elevate women globally. She expressed confidence that such collaborations will strengthen partnerships between Ghana and China in promoting gender equality and social progress.

The exhibition also featured interactive displays, digital innovations, and case studies of successful women-led projects from around the world. These experiences, shared among leaders, are expected to inspire new policies and programs aimed at expanding access to digital training, mentorship, and innovation hubs for women and girls.

The Beijing exhibition on Digital Empowerment for Women and Girls highlights the growing recognition of technology as a key driver of gender equality. Ghana’s First Lady’s participation reflects the country’s strong advocacy for inclusive development and its readiness to collaborate globally in empowering women to lead change through innovation and technology.
