GES sets December 29–30 promotion exams for teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the 2025 promotion examinations for eligible teaching staff will take place on Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The announcement was communicated in an official circular issued on 6th December 2025 and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education.

According to the notice, the written examinations form part of the annual promotion cycle for teachers across the country. The exercise will cover candidates aspiring to the ranks of Assistant Director II (AD II), Principal Superintendent (PS), Assistant Director I (AD I), and Deputy Director (DD).

The examination schedule is as follows:

December 29, 2025

9:00 a.m. – Assistant Director II (AD II)

12:00 noon – Principal Superintendent (PS)

December 30, 2025

9:00 a.m. – Assistant Director I (AD I)

12:00 noon – Deputy Director (DD)

Candidates are required to report to their assigned examination centres by 8:30 a.m., and must present their valid Ghana Card along with any other necessary materials. Details regarding examination centres, candidate lists, and invigilation arrangements are expected to be released later.

GES has tasked all Regional Directors with ensuring the information reaches every school and teacher under their jurisdiction. Teacher unions, including GNAT, NAGRAT, and CCT, have also been encouraged to disseminate the announcement among their members and motivate eligible teachers to participate.

The circular was signed by Munawaru Issahaque (PhD), Acting Deputy Director-General (Q&A), on behalf of the Acting Director-General of GES. The Service expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth and successful promotion exercise.

Copies of the communication have also been forwarded to key stakeholders, including members of the GES Council, directors at GES Headquarters, regional education managers, and national executives of teacher unions.
