The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has finalised a disciplinary proceedings against three license-holders implicated in an unauthorised boxing event held in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 1, 2025.

The committee took strict action following breaches of the Ghana Boxing Authority’s regulations.

The individuals involved are boxer Elvis Ahorgah, trainer Daniel Ayiquaye, and matchmaker Daniel Donkor.

Ahorgah renounced his license from the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and participated in the Nigerian fight under Nigerian Boxing Board of Control jurisdiction without formal clearance from the GBA.

Both Ayiquaye and Donkor, licensed by the GBA, supported the event despite lacking official GBA authorization.

Ahorgah failed to attend the disciplinary hearings summoned by the GBIMC, a move deemed “unpatriotic” and a violation of the GBA’s Rules and Ethical Code of Conduct.

Consequently, Ahorgah’s license was withdrawn, he was indefinitely suspended from professional boxing in Ghana, and fined GH¢5,000.

Trainer Daniel Ayiquaye admitted to an error in judgment and received a two-month suspension alongside a GH¢1,000 fine.

Matchmaker Daniel Donkor was suspended for three months and fined GH¢1,000. The GBIMC stipulated that these fines must be paid within two months.

Failure to pay the fines within the deadline will result in an extension of the suspensions, reinforcing the committee’s commitment to maintaining strict discipline and protecting the integrity of Ghanaian boxing.
