The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Football Association of Wales (FAW) have agreed to a new strategic partnership focusing on enhancing coach development, sharing football knowledge, and exploring future cooperation.

This agreement came after high-level talks held at the FAW headquarters in Hensol, where the GFA delegation led by President Kurt Okraku met with FAW Chief Executive Officer Noel Mooney and Chief Football Officer Dr David Adams.

Central to the partnership is a programme aimed at raising Ghana’s coaching standards by granting access to the FAW’s esteemed coach education pathway.

Selected Ghanaian coaches from the national development programmes will travel to Wales in 2026 to benefit from the advanced Welsh coaching system.

This initiative is expected to strengthen Ghana’s grassroots football development and improve player performance over time.

In addition to coach development, the two associations agreed to explore opportunities for international fixtures involving their youth and senior teams.

With Ghana qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026, such matches could provide valuable experience and competitive advantages for both countries, enhancing exposure to diverse football styles and intensifying international collaboration.

This partnership is built on the mutual belief that football associations prosper through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and creating opportunities that transcend national boundaries.

Both the GFA and FAW view education and innovation as vital components to advancing their national football programs and nurturing young talent.

It reflects a shared vision to uplift football development through strategic partnerships and continuous learning.
