Reports reaching GBC’s Radio Ghana indicate an outbreak of Yaws at Tsledom in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region where about 25 cases of the disease have been confirmed.
Reacting to this, Programmes Manager for Buruli Ulcer Control and Yaws Eradication at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Nana Konamah Kotey described the cases as endemic rather than an outbreak.
She maintained that its recent spread is not an emergency since steps are being taken to contain medically confirmed cases.
