Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams joined a delegation of leaders at the 13th World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum in Istanbul, representing Ghana, where global leaders, business executives, and policymakers gathered to explore pathways for cooperation and investment. The Forum opened a space for Ghana to enhance its development agenda on an international stage.

Bilateral Meeting Reinforces Strategic Partnership

Kofi Adams met with Türkiye’s Minister of Trade to discuss expanding cooperation in technology, agriculture, industrial investment, and trade. Both ministers renewed their commitment to collaboration aimed at job creation, infrastructure development, and knowledge exchange, reflecting the deepening ties between the two countries.

Boosting Air Connectivity for Economic Growth

A significant outcome of the talks was Ghana’s request for Turkish Airlines to increase flights from 12 to 14 per week, establishing two daily flights to Accra. The proposal, warmly received by Turkish officials, is expected to enhance connectivity and support Ghana’s ambition to become a regional hub for trade, tourism, and investment, easing travel for entrepreneurs and professionals.

Enhancing Sports Infrastructure and Youth Empowerment

Beyond economic cooperation, Kofi Adams explored opportunities to leverage Turkish expertise in sports infrastructure development. Ghana aims to upgrade existing stadia and build modern facilities that meet international standards, positioning sports as a driver for youth empowerment, community health, and economic development.

Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Kofi Adams praised the collaborative efforts of Ghanaian diplomats in Türkiye and lauded Ambassador Hüseyin Güngör for his role in fostering strong business and diplomatic ties. He emphasized Ghana’s readiness to offer a stable environment for Turkish investment while benefiting from Türkiye’s know-how in construction, technology, and agriculture, underscoring the mutual benefits of the growing partnership.
