The President of the Ghanaian community in Zambia, Williams Aidoo, has showered glowing praise on President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as a “leader extraordinaire” whose legacy continues to inspire Ghanaians both at home and abroad.
Mr. Aidoo made the remarks during an opening address at a gathering held in honour of Mr. Mahama as part of his state visit to Zambia on Tuesday, 4th February 2026.
According to him, President Mahama’s leadership and governance style have positioned Ghana on a path of development, peace, and progress, earning the country respect across the African continent and beyond.
“Your Excellency, you are not just a leader, but a beacon of hope, inspiration, and pride,” Mr. Aidoo said, adding that President Mahama remains synonymous with good governance, economic growth, and development in West Africa and Africa as a whole.
He noted that the reputation Mahama has carved for Ghana has elevated the country’s image internationally, making his name a household one even outside Ghana, including in Zambia.
Mr. Aidoo further stated that members of the Ghanaian community in Zambia take pride in President’s achievements, saying they walk the streets “with heads held high, full of pride and beaming joy” because of the legacy he represents.
Touching on the President’s humility and faith, the community leader offered prayers for divine protection and guidance for President Mahama, expressing confidence that God would continue to stand by him in the face of challenges.
The address underscored the strong emotional and national attachment Ghanaians in the diaspora maintain towards leadership they believe reflects the country’s values and aspirations.
President Mahama’s visit to Zambia forms part of a broader diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and reinforcing Ghana’s presence and influence within the region.
