Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, has announced that Ghana’s economy grew by 5.5 percent in the third quarter of 2025, according to new figures from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

The latest data shows steady progress in economic activity, although slightly lower than the 7.0 percent growth recorded during the same period in 2024.

‎Dr. Iddrisu explained during the release of the GDP report on Wednesday, December 10, that the growth was largely driven by key sectors including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), crops, trade, transport and storage, manufacturing, and education. These sectors together contributed about 86 percent of the total growth.

‎He noted that the services sector continues to be the biggest contributor to the economy. “Services remained the strongest part of the economy.

The sector grew by 7.6 percent, contributing 40 percent to the economy and leading the third quarter growth with 55.3 percent,” he said.

‎‎The industrial sector also recorded a slight improvement, growing by 0.8 percent compared to 0.4 percent in the same period last year. However, the oil and gas sector saw a major decline with an 18.2 percent contraction, while manufacturing grew by 3.9 percent.
