He will represent His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama at the high-level gathering, which brings together world leaders, policymakers, and environmental advocates to deliberate on global responses to pressing ecological challenges.
During his address, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah is expected to highlight Ghana’s commitment to combating pollution and curbing irresponsible international trade that contributes to environmental degradation.
He will call attention to the persistent problem of hazardous waste dumping, including the disposal of obsolete cooling appliances, which continues to pose serious threats to ecosystems and human health across Africa.
The Minister will further emphasize the importance of joint global action in tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution in an integrated manner. According to him, fostering synergy among international environmental agreements is crucial to achieving sustainability targets and protecting natural resources for future generations.
In addition to his remarks at the Assembly, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah will engage in bilateral meetings with key partners to advance Ghana’s environmental agenda.
These discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in the areas of renewable energy, forest conservation, and pollution control, aligning with the government’s broader vision for sustainable national development.
The United Nations Environment Assembly serves as the world’s highest decision-making body on environmental issues, providing a platform for countries to align policies and share solutions.
Ghana’s participation underlines the country’s continued leadership and dedication to playing an active role in shaping the global environmental discourse.
