The Weija Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 11 foreign nationals caught red-handed printing counterfeit money and running cyber fraud operations from a residential apartment in Tuba, Accra.
The intelligence-led raid, executed by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Cyber Fraud Taskforce Unit on January 5, 2026, underscores the GIS’s growing crackdown on illicit activities threatening national security.
Authorities seized critical evidence during the operation, including laptops, routers, mobile phones, bundles of fake US dollar notes, and tabletop printers or photocopier machines used in the illicit schemes.
The suspects, whose nationalities remain undisclosed pending further probes, are now in custody as investigations continue to unravel the full scope of their criminal network.
In a statement, the GIS commended the public for their unwavering support and called for heightened vigilance. Citizens are urged to report suspicious activities by foreigners in their communities promptly to law enforcement, fostering a collaborative front against crime.
The Service issued a stern warning to landlords and property owners: exercise due diligence when renting to foreign nationals, as harboring illegal immigrants violates Section 52(1)(b) of the Immigration Act 2000 (Act 573) and carries severe penalties.
