The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources will soon publish the names of all individuals, organisations and institutions that acquired government lands between 2017 and 2024 as part of a major transparency initiative aimed at strengthening the protection of public lands.
The move forms part of a Cabinet directive intended to ensure stricter oversight, accountability and transparency in the allocation and management of state lands across the country.
Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, disclosed this while outlining a series of reforms currently being implemented by the Ministry in collaboration with the Lands Commission.
According to him, the list will be published on the official websites of the Ministry and the Lands Commission to allow the public to scrutinise how government lands were allocated during the period under review.
He explained that the publication will cover all allocations made to individuals, organisations and institutions between 2017 and 2024.
The initiative follows a comprehensive review of public land applications carried out by the Ministry and the Lands Commission as part of broader efforts to restore integrity in the management of state lands.
Officials say the decision to make the information public is intended to promote transparency, deter irregular allocations and strengthen public confidence in the administration of government lands.
The Ministry believes the exercise will also help identify anomalies in past allocations and support ongoing reforms aimed at safeguarding public lands from encroachment, abuse and unauthorised developments.
The publication of the list forms part of a wider set of reforms directed by Cabinet to modernise land administration and ensure that public lands are managed in a transparent, accountable and efficient manner.
