The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has held a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Mochizuki Hisanobu, to explore new avenues for cooperation and strengthen existing ties in the country’s health sector.
The discussions, which took place at the Ministry of Health, centered on enhancing collaboration in key areas such as health research, medical equipment improvement, and institutional capacity building — particularly at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
Japan’s continued support for Ghana’s health system through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and other bilateral projects was acknowledged as a vital part of the nation’s healthcare development.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the partnership, with an emphasis on attracting private-sector participation to further advance health infrastructure and research initiatives.
