The Executive Director, West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens, University of Ghana, Prof. Gordon Awandare, says government’s decision to opt for the Astrazeneca and Sputnik-V vaccines for emergency use is the best.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Prof. Awandare explained that government considered the availability and affordability of these vaccines over the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

He however called for enhanced monitoring and evaluation of the vaccines as they are rolled out to ensure their efficacy or otherwise and most importantly related adverse effects.

Prof. Awandare spoke to Eugenia Asumadu-Sakyi.

Prof. Awandare acknowledged that education on the vaccines has been low and called for it to be enhanced to whip up the interest of Ghanaians in patronizing it.
