The Director of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), Prof. Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, has revealed the Institute’s deep influence on global health systems, noting that Noguchi’s scientific contributions are now integral to several international disease control programmes.
Rather than highlighting numbers alone, Prof. Yeboah-Manu framed the Institute as a strategic engine powering global public health decisions. She explained that research generated in Ghana is shaping how the world fights diseases, manages outbreaks and designs long-term control strategies.
Speaking at the Annual Research Meeting (ARM2025) She emphasized that NMIMR’s findings and surveillance data feed directly into major global initiatives, including the Global Polio Eradication Programme, updates to international vaccination schedules, the Global Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme, and the Africa Pathogen Genomics Initiative.
Prof. Yeboah-Manu added that this global-level impact is built on a strong foundation of scientific productivity. She disclosed that over 200 manuscripts authored by NMIMR researchers have already been published in high-impact journals this year, describing the output as evidence of the Institute’s unmatched dedication to knowledge creation.
She emphasized that the Institute’s work continues to position Ghana as a reliable contributor to global health security, with research that influences not just local policy but worldwide action against infectious diseases.
