Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has shrugged off mounting pressure following the team’s 5–1 thrashing by Austria, insisting that public criticism is part of the job and will not influence his resolve.
The heavy defeat in Vienna has triggered fresh calls from fans and pundits for his removal, especially with crucial World Cup‑qualifying fixtures looming later this year.
Addressing the backlash, Addo said: “This is the job of a coach. When we lose, people are mainly trying to bring you down. I don’t really read too many things.”
“Even if we win, I’m not too much into social media or reading anything. Whatever people say, it’s normal, especially on an evening like this when the team didn’t play well and we also lost”; He added.
The result exposed serious defensive lapses and a lack of cohesion, raising questions about Ghana’s readiness for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
For now, Addo insists he is focused on the next friendly against Germany in Stuttgart on Monday, 30 March, asking the public to “wait and see” how the team improves
