The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted thirty (30) police officers in recognition of their exemplary performance during critical security operations in the Ashanti Region.

The promotions, announced on Sunday, January 5, 2025, follow successful police actions that led to the retrieval of 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at the Kantanso–Asankare Police Barrier and the dismantling of a robbery syndicate operating along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch during the Christmas season.

According to the Police Administration, the officers distinguished themselves through professionalism, vigilance, and an exceptional commitment to duty, helping to avert serious security threats.

Officers promoted for their role in the Kantanso–Asankare operation include C/Inspector Tibim Acheampong Solomon, Inspector Sarfo Adu Daniel, G/L Corporal Saeed Frimpong (No. 58311), G/Constable Sremsei Simon (No. 621467), PW/Constable Kissi Dorcas Serwaah (No. 15413), G/Constable Arthur Emmanuel Nkrumah (No. 65450), G/Constable Dennis Danquah (No. 65457), G/Constable Philip Lawer Nyarko (No. 65503), G/Constable Owusu Kenneth (No. 66427), and G/Constable Christian Buaben Kwadzo Addo (No. 66841).

During the operation, officers conducted a detailed search of a bus at the police barrier and discovered two concealed containers holding 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. A separate bag hidden under the driver’s seat was also found to contain two bulletproof plates, a black crushed helmet, and a pair of long boots.

In addition, twenty other personnel from the Intelligence Units of the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their roles in intelligence-led operations at Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom, and nearby communities. These operations resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition, the disruption of armed robbery networks, and the prevention of planned attacks on commuters.

The IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers for their courage and alertness, noting that their actions prevented dangerous weapons from falling into the hands of criminals.

Mr. Yohuno urged all personnel of the Ghana Police Service to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, assuring them that the Police Administration remains committed to recognising, appreciating, and rewarding hard work and dedication.
