Hamburger SV forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has earned a late call-up to the Ghana Black Stars camp in Vienna, filling the void left by injured stars Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

The 22-year-old’s inclusion comes at a crucial time as the Black Stars prepare for upcoming international duties, showcasing Coach Otto Addo’s faith in emerging talents amid injury setbacks.

Thomas-Asante, who has been in fine form for Coventry City in the English Championship, featured prominently in their dominant 3-0 victory over Swansea City before limping off.

The striker was substituted by Josh Eccles in the 62nd minute after picking up a knock, ruling him out of national team action and dealing a blow to Ghana’s attacking options.

Similarly, Athletic Bilbao’s Iñaki Williams battled through the full 90 minutes in his side’s hard-fought win over Real Betis in La Liga.

However, post-match scans revealed a nagging injury sustained during the game, forcing him to skip the trip to Vienna and leaving fans hopeful for a swift recovery ahead of future qualifiers.

Königsdörffer wasted no time responding to the call, arriving promptly in Vienna and set to join training with the squad on Tuesday afternoon.

The Germany-born Ghanaian international has impressed at Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga this season, netting four goals across 26 appearances and proving his worth as a dynamic winger.

This late addition injects fresh energy into the Black Stars setup, with Königsdörffer’s pace and goal threat offering Coach Addo vital depth.

Ghanaian football enthusiasts will be watching closely as the young forward aims to seize this opportunity and stake his claim in the national team hierarchy.
