Government has prioritized completion of the Boankra Inland Port project to boost trade and investment in the Ashanti region.
Closely linked to this project is the directive to all the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to secure litigation-free land for the creation of Industrial Parks to be readily available for local and foreign investors willing to do business in Ghana.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, gave the directive in Kumasi at the launch of the first ever Ashanti Trade and Investment Promotion.
The event, code named ‘ASHANTI EXPO 2026’, is a collaboration between the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, RCC, and private industry players to create an avenue for entrepreneurs, state agencies, the MMDAs, agro dealers and others in the business sector to promote their products and services, improve sales, establish networks while advertising Ashanti region as a strategic and friendly investment destination for both indigenous and foreign investors.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, emphasized that government has prioritized completion of the Boankra Inland Port and other investment friendly initiatives to attract local and international investors for which all the MMDAs must secure litigation-free lands for the creation of ‘Industrial Parks’.
“We’ve written to all the MMDCEs to locate lands that are well situated and could equally be used for Industrial Parks, no matter how little it is, to start something from their various districts. They’re to make available lands that are litigation-free tha can be made available to even private developers to be able to start Industrial Parks from the various districts in partnership with government, or even they want to go solely private, they can be able to do that”, the Regional Minister said.
Dr. Amoakohene, explained that, the ASHANTI EXPO 2026 has been modeled around a similar event held in China every year to showcase products and services of the people of that country.
The Event Consultant, Kofi Yankah, disclosed that, as part of the ‘ASHANTI EXPO 2026’, a competition has been scheduled for creative and innovative individuals to pitch unique business ideas out of which winners will be selected and rewarded in addition to a Farmers’ Market will be side attraction.
“There’ll also be a blood donation exercise to stock the Komfo Anokye Teaching.”
“Security arrangement has been made in addition to a car park for the exhibitors”, the Consultant said.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Mampong, Mr. Yakubu Issifu, mentioned the famous Asante Mampong Scarp as one of the many investment opportunities being promoted.
He said measures are being instituted to make the Scarp visible and attractive to investors, commuters and motorists who ply the road.
The ‘ASHANTI EXPO 2026’, which is on the theme: “Unlocking Business Opportunities in the Gokden Heart of Ghana”, has been scheduled from the 5th to 9th of April to coincide with the Easter festivities.
