The Queen Mother of Ada, Naana Kabukuor Dagojo Dumale, has charged men to champion the education and protection of the girl-child.

She said the idea of men seeing the girl-child as a mere sex object is hampering the empowerment of girls to be confident and well educated.

Naana Kabukuor  Dumale, said this when she interacted with the media at the Asafotufiami festival at Big Ada.

She applauded parents for the high enrollment of children in schools, but entreated fathers to play the lead role in the education of their children, adding that good parenting is a collective effort.

She urged parents to invest in their children rather than social events. According to her, men are largely responsible for school drop outs and teenage pregnancies.

Naana Kabukuor Dumale  asked them not to forsake their families. She also advised elderly men who lure vulnerable under aged girls into sexual relationships to stop, as they will be punished once their deeds are exposed.

The Queen Mother, who initiated “MOO KANE NI”, a reading competition for children, was hopeful of a great future of Ada, if parents playtheir roles well to support government in the education of the youth.

She appealed to government to roof and repair dilapidated basic school buildings in the area.
