The Terry Yegbe Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to youth development and community education, collaborated with Groomdat Girl to celebrate World Menstrual Hygiene Day in 2025.
The event took place at Horti EP Primary School and brought together students, teachers, community members, and officials to promote menstrual hygiene education and help break the stigmas surrounding menstruation.
Terry Yegbe, a native of Akatsi and a former player for Akatsi Kickers FC, founded the Terry Yegbe Foundation with a passion for empowering young people and promoting community development.
Through the foundation, Yegbe aims to provide educational resources and support to underprivileged communities.
The event featured engaging sessions, demonstrations, and performances focused on menstrual hygiene and health.
Physician Assistant at the Akatsi Delphine Gomado conducted a practical session on personal hygiene.
Team Lead for Groomdatgirl and a sports broadcaster, Miss Tilda Elinam Acorlor encouraged the girls to view menstruation as a natural part of life and to take their studies seriously.
Manager of the Terry Yegbe Foundation, Mr. Eric Ahiabor, expressed his gratitude to Groomdat Girl for partnering with the foundation to deliver this important program at the school.
He urged the students to take their education seriously and to be determined and diligent, as this is what Terry Yegbe wishes for them.
The event concluded with the distribution of sanitary pads and snacks to the children, along with dramatic performances and poetry recitations centered on hygiene and menstrual health.
Terry Yegbe is a central defender who plays for the Swedish Allsvenskan club IF Elfsborg and the Ghana national team.
He was recently called up to join the Ghana U-23 team, the Black Meteors, as well as the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The programme was greatly supported by The Freeemo Foundation, Lecturer and Philanthropist, Dr. Harrison Kofi Berlley, and Businessman, Mr. Francis Aba.
The Freeemo Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of learners at Horti EP Primary School, reflecting their profound commitment to youth development and empowerment.
