Morocco has made history by becoming only the third African country to reach the final of the FIFA U20 World Cup. The young Atlas Lions achieved this milestone after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over France on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, securing their place in the tournament’s climax.

Joining the ranks of Ghana and Nigeria, Morocco’s feat marks a significant moment for African football on the global youth stage. This is the first time an African team has reached the U20 final since Ghana’s memorable run in 2009, when the Black Satellites lifted the trophy.

Ghana remains the only African team to ever win the FIFA U20 World Cup, having defeated Brazil in the final hosted in Egypt in 2009. Morocco’s current squad now has the chance to replicate this achievement if they succeed against Argentina in the final scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Their spot in the final highlights the progress made by Morocco’s football development programs and the rising profile of the sport across the region.

As Morocco prepares to take on Argentina, the nation dreams of becoming the second African country to win the prestigious U20 World Cup title. The final will test their skill, resilience, and ambition to make history once more for African football.
