The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana, NALAG, has expressed deep sorrow and shock at the shooting to death the Assembly Member for the Esiase West Electoral Area in the Amansie West district of Ashanti Region, Sampson Dankwah in the line of duty.

A statement signed and issued to the media in Kumasi by the Ashanti Regional Representative on NALAG, Nana Yaw Wiredu, described also, the incident as a loss to the family and local governance structure, especially as the late Assembly Member was not only serving his electorate but also contributing to development on his community.

It said the violent clashes at Mpatuam leading to the loss of lives and injuries is a confirmation of the increasing insecurity situation in the country.

The statement described as unacceptable that a confrontation between local communities and state security should lead to such a tragic outcome.

NALAG is therefore calling on state duty bearers such as the Police to cause an immediate investigation into the matter to ascertain the causes and culprits.

The statement expressed the sympathy and solidarity of NALAG, especially in the Ashanti region to the bereaved families and also wished the injured a speedy recovery.
