Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton has shared the challenges he is facing recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in Game 7 of last season’s NBA Finals. The injury, which occurred early in the decisive game, has ruled Haliburton out for the entire 2025-2026 NBA season.
Haliburton’s injury came at a critical moment with the finals tied 3-3. He tore his Achilles tendon in the early minutes of Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite his absence, the Pacers fought hard but ultimately fell 91-103, missing out on a chance to win their first-ever NBA championship.
Speaking to reporters at the Pacers’ media day, Haliburton described the recovery process as “monotonous and tough.” He emphasized the daily grind of rehabilitation and the mental challenge of being sidelined for such a prolonged period, saying, “Just taking it day-by-day. It’s a monotonous thing of just feeling like you’re doing the same thing every time. It’s been tough, it’s been tough.”
Haliburton also reflected on the bittersweet memories of the special moments from last season. He admitted he is not ready to watch the games yet because of how difficult the recovery has been. “What we did was very special, but I don’t think that I’m prepared quite yet to go back and watch games,” he said.
Before his injury, Haliburton was having an impressive 2024-2025 season, averaging 18.6 points and 9.2 assists per game. The Pacers and their fans now await his full recovery and return to the court in the future.
