New Ministers pledge to cement Mahama’s legacy as Ghana’s best President

Newly sworn-in Finance Minister, Dr. Ato Forson, has vowed that the newly appointed ministers under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration will work tirelessly to ensure his tenure is remembered as the most impactful in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

Speaking on behalf of the six ministers sworn in at the Jubilee House on January 22, 2025, Dr. Forson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and affirmed their commitment to delivering results.

“Mr. President, we want to assure you that we will serve in such a way as to make you the best president in the Fourth Republic,” Dr. Forson stated, emphasizing the ministers’ dedication to addressing the country’s pressing challenges.

Dr. Forson highlighted their shared awareness of the daunting task ahead, citing economic instability, challenges in energy supply, justice reform, food security, and education as key areas requiring immediate attention. He stressed that the team is determined to reset the country under President Mahama’s leadership.

“We are aware of the state of the Ghanaian economy, the state of our energy sector, the justice system, the agriculture sector, and education. While we start work today, we will begin the process to reset the country together with you and your team,” he pledged.

Key Appointments for Critical Sectors

The six ministers sworn in represent critical portfolios pivotal to the nation’s recovery and development:

  • Dr. Ato Forson, Finance
  • John Jinapor, Energy and Green Transition
  • Dr. Dominic Ayine, Attorney General and Justice
  • Haruna Iddrisu, Education
  • Eric Opoku, Food and Agriculture
  • Kwame Agbodza, Roads and Highways

President Mahama charged the ministers with achieving tangible results in their respective sectors, emphasizing that the government’s performance would be held to the highest standards.

The president’s focus on humility and service resonated with the ministers. Dr. Forson reiterated their commitment to restoring trust in governance through transparency, hard work, and efficiency.

“We have taken a cue from what you have told us, and we assure you that we will not let you down,” he said.
