The newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Oppong Peprah, has assured Ghanaian troupes deployed along the countries borders with Burkina Faso of government’s commitment to providing the troupes with logistics to keep Ghanaian borders safe.
Troupes under the command of the northern command have been deployed in Hamile, Tumu and Paga, to protect the borders against rising terrorist activities in neighboring Burkina Faso, while, other troupes are in Sabobaba, Bimbila, Chereponi and Bawku on various peace keeping operations.
Major General Peprah who was recently appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, paid a familiarization visit to the northern, north east, upper east and upper west regions.
The visit afforded the Chief of Army Staff the opportunity to interact with personnel, listen to their concerns and boost morale.
On his arrival at the Tamale Airport, Major General Oppong Peprah, inspected a guard of honour and addressed personnel from the Airbone force and the sixth battalion of infantry .
He used the occasion to assure the soldiers of government’s commitment to retooling the armed forces to make them more responsive to the threat of terrorism and other security challenges facing the nation.
Major General Oppong Peprah also visited the Northern Command Headquarters, where the General Officer Commanding the Northern Command, Brigadier General Moses Aryee briefed him on the operations of troupes deployed along the countries borders with Burkina Faso, to counter the growing threat of terrorism.
As part of the three day visit, the Chief of Army Staff, called on the overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama in Yendi, as well as the Regent of Bimbila before visiting troupes in the area.
Major General Oppong Peprah took time off his busy schedule to commiserate with the family of a military officer, whose wife died during delivery.
