Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has emphasized the importance of communication and unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of tomorrow’s presidential primaries. He urged leaders to avoid dictatorship and instead lead through dialogue, stressing that the party is more of a peer party.

He said this on the GTV breakfast show today, January 30. Afenyo-Markin highlighted that, the NPP’s strength lies in its intellectual diversity and urged aspirants to conduct issue-based, respectful campaigns. He warned that disunity could weaken the party’s effectiveness in parliament and jeopardize its chances in the 2028 general elections.

“The New Patriotic Party is a party of intellectuals and great minds. It is more of a peer party so leaders should not lead with dictatorship”, he noted.

The Minority Leader also commended the five presidential aspirants for signing a peace pact, pledging to maintain peace and cohesion within the party before, during, and after the primaries. The aspirants include Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
