Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that head coach Otto Addo will announce his final Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 1.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Twum outlined FIFA’s strict timelines, noting that all qualified teams, including Ghana, must submit their provisional squads by April 11, 2026, with final rosters due before midnight on June 1.
Ghana finds itself in the tough Group I alongside Panama, England, and Croatia for the tournament co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico next summer.
Twum emphasized that no player is off-limits, stressing that the technical team is monitoring every strong-performing Ghanaian footballer worldwide.
“Every Ghanaian player with a strong performance is closely monitored, and regardless of where they play, they will be given a call-up,” he assured.
The Black Stars aim to leverage this open selection process to build a competitive squad capable of challenging in a group stacked with heavyweights. Coach Addo’s final 26-man roster will be pivotal, blending experience from past campaigns with emerging talents hungry to make their mark on football’s grandest stage.
Ghana kicks off its campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, followed by a high-stakes clash with England in Boston on June 23. The group stage wraps up with a decisive match against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27, where progression to the knockout rounds will hinge on early results and squad depth.
This will mark Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance, following outings in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022. The team’s standout moment remains their unforgettable quarter-final run in South Africa in 2010, a campaign that captured the nation’s heart and set the benchmark for future ambitions.
