The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, says his administration is focused on creating more jobs and ensuring the continuous operation of Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector to support economic growth and sustainable development.
Mr. Tamakloe made the statement while speaking at the New Year School and Conference in Accra on Tuesday January 6, 2026. He noted that the country has experienced renewed national drive over the past year under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that both public and private institutions have a responsibility to contribute to national development.
He said the NPA is committed to building a downstream petroleum sector that is innovative, efficient and sustainable, in line with the broader vision to reset and transform the sector. According to him, ensuring affordability, quality and reliability in the supply of petroleum products remains a top priority.
Mr. Tamakloe added that the Authority is determined to maintain fair pricing and enforce strict adherence to industry standards, while also creating an environment that supports employment and business growth within the downstream sector.
Touching on the government’s 24-hour economy agenda, the NPA CEO said he is leading efforts, as Chair of the Steering Committee, to address infrastructure challenges to ensure its effective implementation in the petroleum downstream industry.
He commended the organisers of the New Year School, describing the programme as an important platform for shaping public discourse and influencing policy decisions. He also praised the University of Ghana for its continued innovation and commitment to academic excellence.
Mr. Tamakloe concluded by assuring stakeholders that the NPA will continue to collaborate with academia and the business community to advance Ghana’s development agenda, while ensuring a regular supply of quality and affordable petroleum products to the country.
