The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, Kwame Arhin, also known as Abompe, in connection with the killing of a man at Kibi Newtown.

‎A statement from the Police say the suspect was picked up on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after he was found hiding in a bush near the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education. The arrest followed a distress call received the previous day reporting the murder of a male adult.

‎A team of detectives and crime scene experts was immediately dispatched to the area near the Kibi Court Complex. At the scene, officers found the body of the deceased, identified as Jonas Baah Sarpong. The body was taken to the Kibi Government Hospital morgue and later transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.

‎Preliminary investigations revealed that Sarpong, who worked as a security guard at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, had a misunderstanding with the suspect. Police report that during the confrontation, Arhin allegedly slashed the victim’s throat with a cutlass and fled.

‎The suspect is currently in police custody and is being processed for court as investigations continue.
