The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament elect for Ablekuma North, Madam Ewurabena Aubyn, has announced key development areas she would focus on during her tenure.

Madam Aubynn, who would become second NDC MP for Ablekuma North since 1992, mentioned sanitation, flooding, and bad roads as among the main development issues confronting the constituents.

Speaking to journalists after being declared winner of a long-standing parliamentary contest, Madam Aubynn described her victory as a “good feeling”, adding “it is time for us to go and ght for our people.” “Our issues are very simple but deep. Flooding, sanitation, poor roads. These are basic things that we are deprived of. So we will work on them and see how best we can deliver for the Constituency, ” she said.

The Electroral Commission on Friday conducted a re-run of the Ablekuma North Parliamentary election in 19 polling stations, bringing an end to a six months-long electoral dispute stemming from the December 7, 2024, general elections, which had left the constituency without a Member of Parliament.

After collating all the results from all the 281 polling stations, Madam Aubynn polled 34, 090 votes.

Her contender, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie of the New Patriotic Party, polled 33,881 votes.
There were a total of 411 rejected ballots.

Friday’s rerun was largely peaceful except pockets of violence recorded in some polling stations, including an alleged assault on Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson, a former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, a journalist with GH One Television.

The Police have since interdicted the Police officer allegedl to have assaulted the journalist.
